Reinsurance

In most self-funded insurance plans, “reinsurance” is the second largest expense, behind the cost of medical claims. “Reinsurance” is the individual claim (SPEC) and overall expense (AGGREGATE) protection that most self-funded plans purchase from an insurance company to offset large, unexpected costs caused by one or many catastrophic claims.
Dialysis Cost Containment

For enrollees with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) few health conditions are as life-threatening and life-altering for plan enrollees. Self-funded plans are typically responsible for the first 33 months of treatment. For employers, costs related to dialysis treatments can be among the highest and least manageable incurred in a self-funded benefit program. ECOH has partnered with Specialty Care Management to relieve employers of some of the financial burden and to ensure enrollees have access to their current providers.
